Little Dom’s Deli:
Occasionally when I am looking for food in my neighborhood I like to stop by Little Dom’s Deli. The Italian deli’s I became accustomed to during my college years in the Bronx were loud places where locals congregated to yell over each other and the workers. Meat was was in your eye line at all times and substituting something on a sandwich order was rarely allowed. Little Dom’s Deli doesn’t feel that way at all. It’s small, quiet, and is devoid of any hanging salted meats. I have never had a sandwich there but this is my go to order.
Truffled Chicken Salad: Usually served as a sandwich, I always opt for a small takeout container. Chicken salad always walks a fine line between amazing and disgusting. At Little Dom’s they don’t go to heavy on the mayonnaise. The addition of the truffle flavor puts this over the top as one of my favorite chicken salads. Only drawback is occasionally this gets too rich for me, I start to feel queasy and have to put it down.
Fregole Salad: I can’t be exactly sure what salty meat and cheese comes with this because I don’t remember. They also throw in some halved cherry tomatoes. I do know it’s the perfect compliment to the truffled chicken salad. If you manage to alternate bites properly between both salads you won’t queasy from the chicken.
Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookie: I love oatmeal cookies but I hate raisins. On a rare occasion I can find a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie I have to try it. The one here is good but could be bigger.
I could see this place getting kind of pricey if you are ordering sandwiches. That being said the food is really good and the ingredients are all high quality. If you want the New York Italian deli experience you are better served going to Bay Cities. I think I need to come back here for a Nutella panini and some coffee one morning in the near future.
