Al and Bea’s:

For some reason this week I have been craving a burrito. Every meal I start to think about burritos and where I can get one. On Thursday the craving became to intense and I decided for lunch I was going to do it. After scouring the Internet for a new place to go I remembered a nice email I received from Carlos’ sister, Adrianna. She had three restaurant recommendations with one of them being Al & Bea’s

Al and Bea’s is located in what I am learning is the mecca of Mexican food, Boyle Heights. It’s basically a kitchen with one window to order and one window to pick up. there are a 6 or so tables but only three of them are covered. Everything I read said to order a bean and cheese but I wanted a little more going inside of mine so I opted for the Al and Bea’s Special. Inside was stewed beef, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, guacamole, and tomatoes. Hold the rice. I don’t know if anything could have hit the spot quite like this burrito did. It was like a 7 Layer Burrito from Taco Bell elevated to high art. I wanted another one but that would have been pushing it. Instead I opted to try out Taco King. More on that later.
