Gerlach’s Grill in Pasadena:
Pasadena is weird because it is so close to Los Angeles but because of the Rose Bowl and general feel of the town it has its own identity. I was there the other day and stopped at Gerlach’s Drive Through Liquor Store to get a bottle of water. On my way back to the car I spotted Gerlach’s Grill. Upon closer inspection I found a Mexican/Middle Eastern spot with grilled fish tacos for $2.25. I wasn’t hungry but I felt like I had stumbled upon gold so I tried one. I found gold. Out came a huge salmon taco topped with pico de gallo. I can’t really get down with fried fish tacos but grilled is another story. This place also has a taco plate with three fish tacos, rice, and salad for 9 bucks. The tacos are so big I think three would be too much food. This place makes any trip to Pasadena worthwhile. Too bad there isn’t something like this in Los Angeles.
