Taylor’s Steakhouse:
Taylor’s Steakhouse has been “LA’s Finest” in Koreatown since 1953. I had a late lunch one afternoon with Nat, Lisa, and Carrie and I couldn’t agree more. It’s a cooler version of Pacific Dining Car. The place is so dark inside, you would have trouble making out who was making out, in a booth across the room. The tables and booths are close together so I bet this place has seen more than a handful of rowdy meals over the years. It’s a steakhouse with the average steak dinner hovering between 19-32 dollars. They also mention on their menu, “Not responsible for well done steaks”. Telling it like it is.
-Prime Rib: I ordered the prime rib between rare and medium rare covered in au jus. It came with a baked potato, cauliflower, and two sides of horseradish. This juicy mammoth of meat was perfect. I don’t know if I trust the prime rib anywhere else but Taylor’s. The sides forgetable except when I paired them with the horseradish sauce.
-London Broil: Nat ordered the London broil dinner. The meat came sliced and was cooked to a beautiful red inside and charred black outside. It tasted like a peppered beef jerky fresh from the broiler. Amazing. I now dream of going to a party catered by Taylor’s, with trays of their London broil spread around the room.
If you want steak in Los Angeles I would suggest Taylor’s Steakhouse over Pacific Dining Car. Not only is Taylor’s cheaper but the dining experience of big city steakhouse is more fun than first class train car.
I want to steal the painting of the Arabic horseman to put in my office. At this point it’s a toss up which one I get first.
