Calvin Klein Collection and Los Angeles Nomadic Division Party:
I went to a party last week for Calvin Klein and the Los Angeles Nomadic Division or LAND. Los Angeles based artist, Jennifer West, had an installation at the party, which you can see more of here. I love when they serve hors d’oeurves at a party.
Here is a list of the items I saw/ate:
-Truffled Chicken - a little too dry at first but by the third go round, I had a great piece.
-Fontina and Wild Mushrooms on Toast - mushrooms are boring to me. I passed after my first try.
-Grilled Shrimp - didn’t try this one but Mickey seemed to like it.
-Goat Cheese on Endive with Candied Walnut - Loved this one. Wish it had been bigger.
-Beef Carpaccio on Toast - The beef was rare. I wish the pesto had been stronger but it was still good.
-Crab Cake - Almost impossible to mess up a crab cake. The surefire appetizer.
-Grilled Cheese - Nice mixture of cheese’s but I couldn’t place what they were.
-Chocolate Cake or Brownie - Didn’t try this one.
-Lemon Cheesecake - Great little bite. I could have finished the whole tray.
Ammo catered the party and they did a good job. Their restaurant on Highland and Santa Monica is really worth checking out. I was impressed by the number of options and how well they were executed. I also heard a rumor there was a cheeseburger circulating the room. Too bad I missed it. My picture taking was kind of aggressive and caught the waiters off guard. Some girl laughed at me for taking pictures, then said she worked on Top Chef and all her coworkers take pictures of their food. She told me they are about to film Top Chef Dessert. Can’t say I am too excited for that one, I am a savory guy.
