La Cabana Mexican Restaurant:
Nat and Laura didn’t think to follow us into the grocery store to use the public restroom so they went to La Cabana Mexican Restaurant. In order to use the loo they had to buy something, as a kind gesture they got me two tacos. David and I attempted to eat these tacos but after one bite he was dry heaving in the Stater Bros. parking lot. The meat was grey and and had no seasoning, not to mention it was sitting in a pool of grease at the bottom of the shell. The taco did not induce dry heaving for me but I could only manage two bites. I don’t think I have had a worse taco in my life. Not even the salsa could save this catastrophe.
Hard shell tacos are tricky because they can be good as fast food a la Jack In The Box, or made with care like at Tonny’s in Pasadena. In between is a vast wasteland of grease pooled meat and that is where La Cabana’s taco resides. If you get hungry around Colton and you don’t want fast food I would suggest driving to the next town.
