Little Dom’s for Brunch:
Carlos, Nat, and I stopped at Little Dom’s for a quick Friday brunch before we walked in Griffith Park. The brunch choice was hotly debated between the three of us because I was not going to be eating and that didn’t sit well with my fellow diners. I checked the menu and saw the burger at Little Dom’s was topped with burrata. I was sold. Usually I have burrata as an appetizer with some cherry tomatoes at Bar Pitti. I would place it in my top five appetizers.
The burger also came with a tomato motarda and grilled speck on focaccia. The focaccia was questionable, but everything else including the, perfectly grilled medium rare patty, was a joy to eat. Burrata unfortunately doesn’t translate well as a melted cheese. It was still good but I would not trade it for a cold, creamy, round ball of burrata any day.
The lump of potatoes you see in the picture were unlike any potato I have tasted before. The deep fried new potatoes with pieces of minced garlic were hard to stop eating. The potato itself was bland but the skin and pieces of garlic were so good. I was eating everyone’s potatoes, not because I was hungry, but because I thought I was letting my tasted buds down if I didn’t finish every bite in sight.
The interior of Little Dom’s is kind of like a mix of Lucky Strike and an old Italian restaurant. The type of place you go to dinner and drink good red wine.
If the rest of the food matches up to the burger and potatoes at Little Dom’s you should definitely check it out.
