Koulouria - Grandma Olive’s Greek Cookies:

I was supposed to come home and create my own secret recipe for chocolate chip cookies with my brother. I haven’t yet. When we visited the MOMA we got inspired to by the sesame seed cookie from Blue Bottle Coffee. Our Grandma, Olive Pappas, (Can’t get more greek than that) would make these sesame seed twist cookies with a hint of Anise. They were always hard but really good. The cookie opened our eyes to the idea of the Greek cookie being soft. Thanks to the trusty, Hellenic Cuisine, cookbook we found a recipe for kolouria. Every house should own a copy of Hellenic Cuisine. The cookies were good but needed a little more anise. The only problem with baking cookies is someone has to eat them all.
