Saturday I was walking around by myself and passed by Astor Street Wines & Spirits. I went in to see if they had any cheese. You can see in the second photo that they run a huge operation. I went inside and as you would expect if you ever you have ever been to a BevMo! they offer cheaper than normal alcohol because of the quantity they purchase. Nothing really all that interesting was going on there and I was in the home stretch of my lap out of the store when I came across a vodka sampling. Cold River Vodka is a new vodka made and this nice lady was offering samples to anyone who stopped by her barrel. I found out after my sample that this vodka is made from potatoes grown in Freeport, Maine. Freeport is the home of the L.L. Bean Outlet Store. She said that is why it has a “sweeter” taste than most vodkas. I will admit it was sweet but I am not sure what Maine potatoes had to do with it.
