Last Friday night I went to visit Nat on the set of the movie she is filming in Oyster Bay, Long Island. I made the trip “out east”, as people like to say in New York, with my friends Sara and Isaac. We met at the Vinegar Hill House to pick up a car. I have always wanted to eat there, but the group consensus was to get food on the road. My expectations for this meal were lowered immediately. Driving out to some town on Long Island and getting food is a total crap shoot. Your best bet is fast food because at least you know what to expect.

After getting us lost a few times, because I am the worst navigator in a vehicle known to man, Sara decided on pizza. We stopped off at La Stella Pizzeria because it looked like the last restaurant in town before the set. I would have been more vocal about the decision, but I got us lost so many times that I didn’t have much leverage.

To my surprise, one of the items I ordered at La Stella was phenomenal. Notice in the top left corner of the second photo something that looks like a cinnamon roll covered with cheese. In between each ring of dough was a different type of meat. If I remember correctly, the meats were pepperoni, ham, salami, and capicola. The best part about this thing was the bottom, because the cheese and meat were toasted in the oven. It was caramelized just like the bottom of a cinnamon roll, but better because we weren’t eating breakfast. Pretty genius concept they have over there at La Stella. I will probably never go back, but that is because I don’t think I will ever go to Oyster Bay again.
