Port Of Call:
The final meal in New Orleans was a cheeseburger. Nothing about the burger at Port Of Call was Cajun, but with a bar full of locals scarfing down the massive patties and island inspired drinks it didn’t matter. Port Of Call is the type of place where people go to drink a lot and hope the food sticks to their ribs enough to allow them to walk out in a straight line.
They take their beef seriously here, and with a pile of shredded cheddar cheese on top and a baked potato with all the trimmings as your side you can’t help but feel you inhaled a brick after the meal. We opted for iced tea since it was barely noon. Rarely do you encounter a cheeseburger where the cheese is not melted. When the patty is as thick and juicy as the one they serve here the mountain of cheese melts in your mouth with each bite. It’s the perfect way to say goodbye to New Orleans.
